Fine George III Mahogany Linen Press, Circa 1800

A handsome and well-proportioned George III mahogany linen press of excellent colour and rich patination, dating to circa 1800.
Constructed in beautifully figured mahogany, this elegant press is of classic late Georgian form, with a moulded cornice above a pair of panelled cupboard doors opening to reveal the original fitted interior with five graduated sliding linen trays, a highly desirable survival that speaks to the authenticity and practicality of the piece.
The lower section comprises an arrangement of two short drawers over two long graduated drawers, all retaining attractive brass ring handles and offering generous storage. The whole stands on elegant splay feet, lending the piece a refined architectural balance.
The mahogany displays particularly pleasing figuring across the doors and drawer fronts, with a warm, deep lustre developed over more than two centuries. Clean lines and restrained detailing make this a versatile and timeless antique, equally at home in a bedroom, dressing room, hallway or country house interior.
A wonderfully useful piece of Georgian furniture, combining practical storage with understated elegance and superb period character.
Condition:
Good antique condition with age-related wear, marks and minor surface imperfections consistent with age and use. The original interior sliding trays remain in place, and the piece presents beautifully with excellent overall colour and patina.
