Flintlock Duelling Pistol by Patrick

A beautiful Flintlock Duelling Pistol by esteemed gunsmiths Patrick, of Strand Street, Liverpool.
The Patrick name is more commonly associated with Ann Patrick, who took over the family business in 1817, and led it until her death in 1832. This example was manufactured much earlier, around 1780, when her father, Jeremiah Patrick was running the family business.
This incredibly decorative example is 43cm overall (17in), with a 28cm (11in), .6 calibre octagonal sighted barrel. The butt plate is silver, and is engraved with flamboyant floral patterns, typical of the styling quirks and designs associated with this period.
The lock is in working order, and is signed 'Patrick' underneath the mechanism. There is a silver plate attached to the grip, initialled 'WR' in a decorative script style font.
