French 19thC Walnut Open Armchair / Fauteille Chair

A beautiful open armchair in solid walnut with a lovely even colour and natural soft patina.
Very heavy, solid and robust and of large proportions, the chair frame has no repairs, breaks or later elements and is in excellent original condition with only minor bruises and dings consistent with age and careful use.
Beautiful channel carved flared arms which terminate in scrolls on S shaped supports. The fluidly carved and scrolled legs are set on small ball feet and are joined by a serpentine stretcher with central cartouche.
The fabric is not original, it is a heavyweight upholstery fabric over-sewn with tapestry panels and is in excellent condition with no wear or damage and is finished with antique brass nails.
The back and seat are very well padded and the rake of the back and the large well sprung seat is extremely comfortable.
A lovely example.
Dimensions are:
Width is 25.5 inches, depth is 27 inches and height is 47 inches.
Height from the floor to the seat is 20 inches and the width of the seat is 21.5 inches.
For metric please multiply by 2.5
I describe and photograph my pieces accurately and with the aim that on arrival each will exceed expectations.
I operate a full refund guarantee and am always happy to give free, honest and friendly advice.
