French brass striking alarm 'Capucine' travel clock
A delightful French travelling antique clock approaching 200 years old, but with a sharp clean look that would compliment most modern interiors.
The brass case is polished and lacquered, surmounted with urn finials and a steel bell suspended form the carrying handle.
The 8-day movement strikes on the bell mounted on top of the case. It sounds the comtoise strike sequence, striking the hour and automatically repeating the hour a couple of minutes later, then striking the passing of the half hour. This clock benefits from a strike / silent lever on the right hand panel. The alarm is independently wound pulling on the cord that protrudes through the top of the case, beneath the bell.
The alarm is set by a blued-steel central hand.
A regulation arm above the dial allows the length of the silk suspension to be adjusted, and hence the clock regulated.
Height: 28cms
Width: 13cms
Depth: 9cms
