French Empire gilt bronze 8 day mantle clock
A very beautiful French gilt bronze Empire period 8 day mantle clock, circa 1830 and in lovely condition.
Beautifully made and real elegance to this style. The work to the dial itself and the central bezel is superb.
The top of the clock has a putti with a mythical beast, but the putti is missing perhaps a bow from its hand.
The clock runs on an 8 day movement with silk suspension and strikes a bell on the hour and on the half hours too.
Lovely condition throughout, fabulous quality and very decorative.
Measuring:
16 1/2” or 42cm total height
7 1/2” or 19cm wide
4 3/4” or 12cm deep Based in Uppingham, Rutland…having been in the business for 25 years focusing on mostly French and English decorative antiques and interiors from the 18th to the early 20th century, hopefully a collection you will enjoy browsing and hopefully re home some of my finds!
Viewing here in Uppingham is very welcome in my spacious barn studio but also I have a showroom based within the Uppingham Antiques Centre, which is well worth a visit and have a good lunch in town too!
