An Elegant French Gilded Sofa / Canape. Dating from 1820 Louis XVIII period.
Standing on 8 stop fluted legs. The whole frame is carved spiralling ribbon decoration
and carved bows to the tops of the three slightly curved sides. The sofa has been re-gilded ( not painted ) and upholstered in a glazed cotton Colefax and Fowler fabric.
It is not worn but there is a small tear in the back ( as seen on photos ). There are no breaks or repairs..but the two sides do have a little movement. We can recover if so desired.
