French Kingsize Paint And Gilt Bed
Very decorative French paint and gilt, scroll end, kingsize bed, circa 1920.
( please ignore the black pole sticking up behind the bed...it's just holding the bed up for the photo! )
Beautifully carved throughout the frame. It is a good solid frame and a slightly larger proportion than the average of this style, you'll see from the detailed photo of the scroll end.
Unusual to find a bed like this and in such good condition, the paint and gilt have aged very well and the current upholstery, although vintage, is also in good condition. You may like to keep it as it is, or I can assist you with re upholstery if required.
The bed is an "off white" paint finish with a very slight pale green picking out the detail and of course, the gilding to the carved floral work.
Very nice bed and great quality.
Measurements:
Headboard Height: 48'' or 122cm
Footboard Height: 32'' or 82cm
With between the original side rails is 60'' / 5' or 152cm
The price shown is for the frame as you see it here, the head and foot ends and the original side rails.
I can supply you with a slatted base, or I can offer you a fully upholstered supporting box base ( these are a much better finish and also raise the finish height of the mattress too )...please get in touch
