Description:
Here is a fine quality antique French Louis XVI style burr walnut rectangular coffee table with decorative marquetry inlay and fine brass ormolu detail, circa 1920, in good original condition. The top consists of stunning burr walnut quartered veneers, on a solid walnut serpentine frame. The tabletop features a central rosewood background with spectacular floral marquetry, comprising of a variety of timbers, bordered by boxwood cross banding and satinwood string inlay. The tabletop perimeter is decorated with further boxwood cross banding and satinwood inlay incorporating floral inlaid cartouches to each corner, above a shaped frieze that boasts elegant brass ormolu centre mounts (visible on each side of the table). The table is raised on four fine cabriole legs, which at the knees, feature further brass ormolu mounts to the knees & sabots (toes).
This coffee table boasts a mellow brown burr walnut colour. As its boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

This coffee table is in good original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There is a lovely mellow colour and patination to the burr walnut top and frame. As the table boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. The table is constructed of solid walnut frame with a burr walnut veneer top. The original floral marquetry, cross banding and inlay is present and intact, as is the original brass ormolu mounts to the frieze, knees and legs. This item is solid in joint (does not wobble) and ready to use.
