French Mahogany & Brass Inlaid Bureau de Dame

An elegant and particularly fine quality French mahogany bureau de dame, with profuse brass mounts and inlay. The tambour to the top opens automatically on a mechanism with the drawer, to reveal an arrangement of three interior drawers and a well. The fall opens to form a writing surface with hand-stained genuine cow hide red leather insert. The bureau is raised on four elegant circular section fluted tapering legs with brass inset mouldings to the fluting.
Width 26” (66cm) Depth 16” (41cm) Height 34” (86cm)
Condition & Details of Restoration:
This item is in original structural condition. The polish has been refinished and the brass cleaned, by our own craftsmen, by hand in the traditional manner. There are some extremely minor old marks under the polish. The leather inset is a replacement. Please note that due to the action of the fall which folds in two places the leather has already creased this is an inevitable consequence of this model of bureau.
