French Red Painted Tole Occasional Table c.1920-25

The charmingly decorative ruby red toleware occasional table having two circular tiers with pierced edges, the surfaces decorated with sprays of flowers, to three undulating and twisted iron elegant legs, the whole surviving from early twentieth century France.
In good overall order, the table simply shows light wear to the paintwork as photographed. There is no damage to speak of and it can be used daily.
Toleware refers to largely to kitchen-related objects created from metal, typically tin or thin steel, and are often in decorative styles such as Arts and Crafts and Regency. Decorative painting on these items is common but is not always the case. This style of decorative art spread from Europe, where it was referred to as Japanning, to the United States in the 18th century. There was a resurgence in the 1920s for this style.
A pretty and versatile table that could be used in in a number of different settings.
