A lovely French leather and velvet glove box dating to around 1850. The box has the original red lining which is in good condition for the age. The leather is also in good condition with only a few losses. The velvet covering of the padded lid has been replaced and this matches the original (which had perished) exactly. The box has survived remarkably well considering that it is constructed of thick card on a wooden base. Much of the original painted decoration on the leather is also still present. The black leather base is also present and has the original brass conical feet. The box measures 34.0cm in length, 9.2cm in width, and is 7.3cm high.
