Gents 14ct gold Henry Moser wrist watch, 1960

Gents 14ct gold Henry Moser wrist watch, 1960.
The watch has a Swiss 17-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Hy Moser & Co. There are a couple of empty screw holes at the edge of the movement. In some cases, these would be for retaining screws. However, this movement is held in place by the specially designed shaped case back.
The company was founded by Heinrich Moser in St Petersburg, Russia, in 1928. The company was known for its luxury watches and counted Russian princes and members of the Russian Imperial Court amongst their customers.
Henry Moser died in 1874 the company was sold, and its business in Russia was expropriated in 1918 due to the Revolution.
By 1953, the business was trading from its premises in Le Locle, Switzerland where it concentrated its efforts on wrist watches, rather than pocket watches, and this is when this particular watch would have been produced.
The watch measures 31.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs so it would suit a slimmer wrist. The case is 14ct gold and there are Continental hallmarks inside the case back along with British hallmarks for London (import mark), 1960, along with the Hy Moser & Co name. Two of the lugs also have the Continental 14ct gold mark. The front of the watch is in lovely condition. The back of the watch has three small shallow bruises and a little light surface marking, nothing too detrimental at all.
The lens is in lovely condition.
The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands and a subsidiary seconds dial. There is a little marking to the dial.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
