Gents 1940s Omega bumper automatic wrist watch gents mens mans %%alt5%%
Gents 1940s Omega bumper automatic wrist watch.

The watch has a bumper automatic movement, 28.10 RA SC PC, which is working nicely. The calibre is made up of the size of the movement, Remontoir Automatique (automatic movement), Seconde au Centre (centre seconds) and Para Choc (shock absorber).

Early automatic watches such as this one relied on the rotor ‘bumping’ backwards and forwards between two springs to maintain the power within the movement. Later automatic watches have the fully rotational rotor.

The movement is signed with the Omega name and the serial number 10,758,649 dates it back to around 1945/46. It also has the letters OXG, this was the import code for Omega watches or uncased movements delivered to the USA after 1936.

The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is stainless steel and the main body is in good condition. The screw-on case back has a slight indentation, light surface marking and a short number fairly lightly scratched into it.

The inside of the case back has the Omega triangular logo together with the case reference 2438-4 which is correct for the 28.10 calibre.

The winding crown has an Omega logo.

The lens is in good condition.

The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands. The original lume has been removed from the hands and numerals.

The watch comes with a black leather strap with stainless steel buckle with Omega logo.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
