Gents antique silver Waltham wrist watch, 1915
A gents antique silver Waltham wrist watch, 1915.
The watch has a hand-winding movement, a grade 161, which was made from 1907 until 1915 so this particular movement would have been one of the last made and there were only 5,500 made that year. The movement is working nicely. It is fully signed and the serial number 20,462,599 confirms the date as 1915.
The watch measures 35mm diameter excluding the onion winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the screw-on case back for Birmingham 1916 with a case maker's mark for Aaron Dennison. The Dennison Watch Case Co produced watches for many watch manufacturers but they had a particularly close working relationship with Waltham. The case is in good condition with just general surface marks, nothing too serious at all.
The lens is in good condition.
The signed white enamel dial has a couple of hairline cracks at the top of the dial but they are faint. Blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.
A later leather strap has been fitted.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
