Gents silver Syren wrist watch, 1924
Gents silver Syren wrist watch, 1924.
The watch has a 15-jewel hand-winding movement, signed Syren, which is working nicely.
The watch measures 32mm diameter excluding the fixed wire lugs and later winding crown. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case back for London (import mark), 1924, with a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell.
From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.
The case is in beautiful condition, just one very small “ding” to the back of the watch.
The lens is in good condition.
The dial is in good condition, blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and a red number 12.
The watch has a vintage leather strap.
It comes in an antique presentation box from a Pontypridd jeweller.
