Genuine Novelty Golf Toast Rack In Silver Plate

Always highly sought-after, this is a collectible Victorian novelty toast rack, just as likely to be found on one's desk-top as a letter holder and desk tidy but equally a fun addition to the golf devotee's breakfast table.
Made from silver plate, the rack has an integral crumb tray decorated with a naturalistic bark design and a scalloped edge. Each end there is a golf ball and the dividers created from crossed gold clubs.
Standing on four original bun feet, the underside is where the full English mark for the well renowned silversmith is present for DEYKIN & SONS of Birmingham. The mark dates the piece to before 1895 when the business was succeeded by Deykin & Harrison. Excellent condition, measuring 5 3/8" x 3 1/2" x 4 1/4" tall to top of handle.
