A superb quality George 3rd Mahogany Elbow or Armchair.It has oval back with well carved Splats,the Arms also have carved detail which is continued along the serpentine Front Rail and the front Legs,the top of which have an Oval Carved Paterae.The front legs unusually terminate in a Ball foot.This Chair is low., i.e.not Dining Height, therefore is an Armchair, is is very comfortable.The fitted Seat has been re upholstered using original(?) Tapestry which has been cleaned.Overall max height is 33" and width max is 22" seat height is 14". It shows no sign of old breaks or repairs and is very sound.c.1780-90 I am listed as a Private Dealer but some of my Stock can be viewed at The Antique Shop, 53, High Street Heathfield E.Sussex.If you wish, I am am able meet you there to discuss any items and also bring along any items which are not on Antiques Atlas but not displayed in the Shop.
