George I Style Burr Walnut Small Bureau Bureau Walnut Burr %%alt5%%
A pretty and fine quality George I style stepped front bureau with beautifully figured burr walnut veneers and chevron or ‘herringbone’ banding to the top and the fall, the fall having a red leather inset scriber and opening to reveal a fitted interior of pigeonholes, above an arrangement of three graduated oak lined drawers with brass handles and escutcheon plates, and raised on cabriole legs with shell carved knees and pad feet.

Width 26″ (66cm) Depth 18″ (46cm) Height 36″ (91cm)

Condition and Details of Restoration
This bureau is in original condition, and is structurally completely sound. The polish has been revived by our own craftsmen, by hand in the traditional manner. There are some minor old marks underneath the polish and minor rippling to the veneers. The leather may not be original, but has certainly been in place for some time and bears the expected marks of use.
