George III Caygill of Askrigg Longcase Clock
A Good George III oak cased longcase clock made by Christopher Caygill of Askrigg,North Yorkshire.c.1790.Pretty painted dial with rare 'penny' moon to the centre.30 hour movement striking on a bell to the hour.Reeded columns and shaped door to the polished case.Swan neck pediment to the hood.Full working order.Stands 86"high.
Christpher Caygill b.1747-d.1803.Apprenticed to Mark Metcalfe.Prolific longcase antique clock maker,mainly brass dials,a few painted dial antique clocks were made.
