George III Chinoiserie Decorated Chair


Circa 1800. An unusual and stylish late George III beech armchair. Decorated with chinoiserie patterns and designs. The simple curved top rail, supported on four rectangular spindles with a curved rail beneath, shaped arms and a solid seat. The entire chair is painted in red, with the chinoiserie and painted decorations in various locations around the chair. Back legs are square and slightly out swept, front legs are square and tapering intersected by stretchers on all sides.
