This is a stunning quality and completely original English George III Mahogany Chippendale influenced Chest on Chest, circa 1780. The front of the chest and sides are constructed from the best quality mahogany. The chest consists of two halves. The top chest is smaller than the base chest and consists of two over three drawers. In between each section there is a working brushing slide. The bottom section consists of three drawers. The chest is completely original. There are 8 working cock-beaded drawers all features the original working locks and a key. It has the original backboards, original oak drawer linings and hand dovetailed drawer construction, original dentil cornice above a moulded frieze. The chest features very heavy original brass swan neck handles and escutcheons (a sign of good quality). The chest also boasts stunning quality Chippendale influenced shaped brass key escutcheons. The whole of the chest stands on bracket feet. The top and bottom are completely original. This is an ideal item for the bedroom to store clothes.
The chest boasts a rich dark brown colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the hallway, to the living room or bedroom and is very useful as there are so many storage drawers. This item would certainly grace any home. So don't miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.
Condition Report
The chest is completely original and is in very good condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. All eight drawers feature the original brass swan neck handles, escutcheons and working lever locks. All drawers retain their cock beading. There is one original working key. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.

Condition The chest is completely original and is in excellent condition. Some nominal old use marks to the leading edges. All eight drawers feature the original brass swan neck handles, escutcheons. There is one original working key. Free of active worm-worm, solid in joint and ready to use. There are old use marks and scratches to the leading edges and corners. There has been some very old restoration to the right side of the chest a long time ago (see photos). There are some very old indentation lines on the top left hand side of the chest (see photos). Please remember that this item is over 200 years old so there will always be some minor wear.
