George III Mahogany Inlaid Side Table George III Georgian mahogany %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Circa 1800, George III mahogany inlaid side table probably by Young & Trotter of Edinburgh. The rectangular top has deep chamfered corners and raised crossbanded edge, with triple line chequered inlay on the fore edge. On the front is a single drawer in the apron with a diamond escutcheon, opening to reveal a mahogany interior with three divisions. Beneath the apron is a chevron inlay which runs around the entire piece. It is polished on the back and freestanding. The table stands on four square tapering legs with slightly turned out feet. The legs have string inlay on the front with the classic Edinburgh feature of the arch with dot above. Toward the bottom of the legs are unusual inlaid concave stretchers which are thin and elegant. Wonderful example of late George III Edinburgh antique furniture.

Size 77cm high x 49cm wide x 38.5cm deep.
