George III Mahogany Serpentine Serving Table George III Georgian mahogany %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Circa 1790, stylish George III mahogany serpentine serving table. The top has satinwood, ebony and boxwood crossbanding. Beneath the top the shaped apron is framed with string inlay and has two short drawers with brass swan neck handles. The drawers have been cut into the apron at a later stage. In the centre is a shell inlay. The whole piece stands on four square tapering legs with boxwood inlay which is canted at the top. This feature occurs frequently on Edinburgh made antique furniture. At the bottom of the feet are brass tapering toes with squat brass castors. Although alterations have occurred, this is a very stylish table from the late George III period. Good colour, sturdy and functional.

Size 88.5cm high x 160cm wide x 62cm deep.
