George III Oak and Elm Potboard Dresser c.1800

A very handsome and original George III oak potboard dresser made by hand in c. 1800. With five original elm and oak drawers, each with brass knob handle, and each opening smoothly and closing properly. The drawers retain their original fine boarded linings with substantial dovetailed joints and all in clean, solid and usable condition.
The dresser is pegged throughout and has a beautifully shaped apron. The tall chamfered legs are united by original oak pot shelf boards.
Original tall oak and elm boarded rack with plate grooves to each shelf and well shaped cornice.
All very robust, heavy and usable. The back legs have been re-tipped by a few inches which is common on dressers of this age as the rear feet sat on damp brick floors and against damp walls and were more prone to rot and insect damage.
A country piece, quite tall but of relatively small proportions for this period and with a good rich natural colour to the oak. No breaks or other damage, some small losses and repairs, superficial marks, bruises and knocks consistent with age and careful use over the centuries.A very pretty Georgian period dresser, usable and substantial.
Dimensions are:
54.5 inches wide, 16 inches deep and 79 inches high.
For metric please multiply by 2.5 I describe and photograph my pieces accurately and with the aim that on arrival each will exceed expectations.
I operate a full refund guarantee and am always happy to give free, honest and friendly advice.
