Description:
Here is an example of a good quality antique English oak side table, circa 1860, which has been constructed from earlier timbers (possibly late 17th or early 18th century timbers) during the Victorian period. This is a primitive table and would have been used in a simple country dwelling. The table features a primitive moulded two-piece top. Below, there is a single working cushion fronted drawer, which features a carved floral metal knob. The drawer is oak lined with simple butt joints. Below the drawer is a primitive shaped apron. The table has been handmade using the pegged construction method this is evident around the body of the table. The table stands on four small elegant baluster turned legs, which are united by stretchers (for added support), and terminate on simple bobbin feet. The table boasts a superb rich oak colour and is in good condition.
This item features a dark oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the dining room, living room or the hallway. The desk would certainly grace any home or office and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So don't miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.
Condition Report:
