Georgian Comb-painted Pine Coffer On Bracket Feet

Handsome Georgian pine coffer on bold bracket feet, decorated all-over with comb painting and dated, rather uniquely, both internally and externally.
Some of the original paper lining depicting men on horses has been preserved, in particularly on the lid of the candle box where it includes a printed date of 1793 so we can safely assume the construction of the box dates from on or before that date.
To make things even more interesting the comb decoration also contains a date, that of 1884 (the last number is not obvious but I believe it to be a 4). So the comb decoration post dates the box by about 100 years. The painting has been skillfully undertaken the top and sides all have borders of solid medium brown colour surrounding panels containing a combination of horizontal and wavy lines where the paint was partially removed while still wet.
Lock is present but there is no key.
One of the iron hinges is a replacement (though still probably antique), whereas the other appears to be original.
The sides are all dovetail jointed. The top has been reinforced by three pitch pine struts nailed to the underside.
It stands on its original bracket feet.
Delivery: Delivery using our trusted driver can be arranged to most places on mainland England and Wales for £50
