Georgian Cuban Mahogany Chest Of Drawers

This is a very very good chest of drawers. It dates to around 1800 and what is so unusual about it is the quality. The chest is made in solid mahogany. Even the drawer fronts are in solid mahogany. You never see this. Generally drawer fronts from the period are veneered. The mahogany is incredibly hard (one of the reasons why this chest has remained in such good condition.) and the mahogany is very tightly grained. I suspect the chest is made in Cuban mahogany which has a very different feel to the softer Honduran mahogany that you usually see.
Everything about the chest is quality. The drawers are lined in solid oak. Look at the quality in the reeded quarter columns. Look at the inlaid cartouches beneath. Look at the wonderful shape to the ogee feet. The chest retains its original brass handles.
The chest is in good original condition. Nibbles to edges at side. Minor marks as you would expect. The drawers run well. It even retains its original key!!
I don't think you will see a chest as handsome and as good as this for a while. It is ready to go in to your home and ready for use. It is also as handsome a George III chest as you will see.
The chest is 42 inches high and 22.5 inches deep and 47 inches wide.
