Technical Description
An 18th century cut glass hollow stem sweetmeat. The lipped cup bowl features a scallop cut rim above a band of diamonds, this rests upon a hollow stem with a swelling knop. A conical foot with a rough pontil supports the piece.
Historical Relevance
Hand-blown around the time James Tytler became the first person in Britain to fly by ascending in a hot air balloon in Edinburgh 1784.
