Beautiful Georgian tortoiseshell knotting shuttle with delicate inlay of gold and silver. Sadly one side has been broken a long time ago and has a historic repair. Knotting shuttles are larger than tatting shuttles and have open points. They were used simply for knotting cord for decoration - and a way for elegant Georgian ladies to look industrious! Apart from the obvious repair it has no other issues and the inlay is beautiful. The shuttle measures 3 1/2" long and dates to around 1780. I prefer payment by bank transfer, details on request.
I regret that due to current regulations I am unable to ship ivory items to the United States, even though all items are CITES compliant.
