Early 19th.c. oak chest on chest c.1810. Classic proportions, just 41″ wide with two short drawers over five long plus an unusual hinged-front compartment hidden in the cornice and a brushing slide in the waist. Oak drawer fronts with mahogany crossbanding and charming late 19th.c. steel handles cast with the face of a spaniel or similar gun dog. Ebonized lozenge mouldings, quarter columns and unusual scroll shaped feet. Solid oak sides and elm drawer linings. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops.
