Georgian Walnut Cabriole Leg Lowboy. Mid 18th C
Beautifully designed and of extremely handsome proportions, this is a very fine mid 18th century Cabriole leg Lowboy.
The top is of well figured and matched walnut veneer, framed and strung, with a mahogany border.
The drawers are similarly veneered in figured walnut, picked out with stringing borders and cockbeaded edges.
The drawer linings are all original georgian oak with finely dovetailed joints.
The handles are not original, but are mid 18thC plates and bails, correct and very appropriate for this piece. They have the same hole centres as the original handles, and there is no scarring to the drawer surface
Perhaps the finest feature of this table is its 4 robust cabriole legs. They are of solid English walnut, expertly shaped and with carved scrolled inner faces.
They have a wonderful weight and balance, which offers the table great presence and poise.
Soft mellow patina, with a wax finish
Excellent condition throughout.
One Ear to the back of the rear left cabriole has been replaced
