Gillows Twin Pedestal oak Writing Desk c1890
A good quality solid oak twin pedestal writing desk by Gillows of Lancaster c1890. Original skiver to the top surface which is in really good condition with very little wear. The top is slightly overhung with bracket supports all the way around. An arrangement of nine drawers, graduating in size on both sides, all with their original brass handles. All locks are present but no keys. The desk can be placed as a stand alone in the middle of a room as the back has moulded panels.
In really good condition, no breaks or repairs. Gillows stamp to the top centre drawer. The desk doesn't come apart, however it will go through a standard doorway.

Kneehole height 63cm Our stock items are carefully selected by myself and I only buy good quality items which may need small repairs, a clean and a polish. I don't buy any items that need major restoration, but any loose joints are re-glued. Occasionally, some items may have small amounts of historic extinct woodworm, never enough to affect the integrity of the item, and is always treated as a matter of course. We try to describe and show our items the best we can, and we use studio lighting which sometimes lightens the colour slightly on some of the furniture. All lamps are rewired and PAT tested. Every item we sell we would have in our home (some of them have been!!) It is impossible to describe every item fully, so please feel free to email or call for more information or any queries you may have. The items will have no major defects but will show signs of normal age related wear and use. I would prefer the items to show its life rather than strip it and re-polish it, as it's only original once!
