Gilt & horn pair cases - Eastland, London, c1770

MOVEMENT Gilded verge movement, signed and numbered (7422), with blued screws and pierced and engraved balance cock. Complete, good original condition and running well.
DIAL White enamel, in reasonable condition but with damage at 2 o'clock and a few surface scratches. Nice gold hands.
INNER CASE Gilt/brass with very little wear to the gilding. Stamped with the movement number (7422). The hinge is fine and the case snaps shut. Good condition throughout. High dome bull's eye crystal in good condition.
OUTER CASE Gilt/brass with underpainted horn covering. An attractive case but restored. Some cracks to the centre of the back, a small piece of horn missing between the button and the rim, and the painted surface has been varnished. The catch spring has been replaced (glued rather than pinned) , though the bezel does close . The catch button is worn and inoperable. The hinge and catch are fine and the case closes nicely.
Thomas Eastland is listed in London between 1744 and 1751. This movement is a little later.
Free worldwide postage.
Payments by cheque, bank transfer, credit & debit cards and Paypal accepted.
