Gilt Enamel painted Verge Pocket Watch circa 1770

Gilt Enamel painted Verge Pocket Watch circa 1770 Geneva
You’re bidding on a Gilt Enamel painted verge pocket watch circa 1770 signed Daniel Moilliet (see below in History) from Geneva coming with box.
Dial: The white enamel dial has black Roman numerals and blued hands with keywind by the 2. The dial is protected by a clear glass.
Movement: Gilt verge movement, featuring pierced balance cock, blued screws, hand-finished floral scrollwork, silver regulator index, signed by the maker Daniel Moilliet, Geneve and numbered 14696 matching the case number.
Case: The watch is lying in open face stone paste gilt case numbered 14696, matching the movement number, with a beautiful painted enamel on the back. The scene depicts two elegantly dressed pastoral figures facing one another in a romantic garden setting. Surrounded by flowers and rich blue decoration, they appear to symbolize courtship or sentimental love. A classical urn or altar between them reinforces themes of affection, harmony, and refined eighteenth-century aristocratic taste.
History: Daniel Moilliet (1721–1803). Son of Abraham. Master watchmaker and watch merchant. He notably produced watches with cases decorated with enamel, pearls, and gemstones.
He made repeating watches, calendar watches, and watches with different time zones. He worked with Moulinier. (Osvaldo Parrizi – Antiquorum p.208)
Signed: Daniel Moilliet – Circa: 1770
Diameter: 57mm - Weight: 126 gr
