Gold pair cases - John Rowe, London, 1765

Fine English verge movement, in excellent engraved gold pair cases.
MOVEMENT Signed and numbered (754) gilt brass verge movement, with four square pillars, beautifully engraved balance cock and plate, blued screws and silver regulator disc. Balance cock with fine “lace” edging (typical of the period between about 1755 and 1765). Excellent condition and running well.
DIAL The white enamel dial is in excellent condition with just some very light surface scratches and some damage around the rim between 7 and 9. Beautiful original 18th century gold beetle and poker hands in fine condition.
INNER CASE Hallmarks for 22ct gold, London, 1765. Good condition with just a few shallow dents on the back and a little compression around the sides. The case snaps shut nicely. The high dome bull's eye crystal is perfect.
OUTER CASE Gold hallmarks for 22ct gold, London, 1789, maker IW. Beautifully engraved with a monogram “SS” within the central cartouche on the back. The hinge and catch are again fine and the case snaps shut. In good condition throughout with just wear to the catch button and the collar on the bezel is missing (though present on the main case).
This outer case, 24 years later than the inner, is a perfect fit for the inner, and was probably made specially for this watch. Free worldwide postage.
Payments by cheque, bank transfer, credit & debit cards and Paypal accepted.
