A most useful mahogany line press from the 18th Century. Unrestored but nice and tidy this would fit into an old cottage really well. Being only 71inches tall it would be fantastic where a ceiling is not too tall. Alternatively of course it could go on a landing for your linen / towels etc and not be overpowering. It has three sliding shelves and someone has fitted a clothes rail. This of course gives the flexibility of either using shelves or hanging space. It is 25. 1/2 inches deep so it will tale a coat hanger with ease. The drawers are all oak lined and the boards run the correct way for a period press too, everything sitting on bracket feet. The brass handles although not being original to this are early, most likely late Georgian or early Victorian and thereis an exceptionally rare thing for any item of this age, a key and operational lock. The cornice has a rather appealing dental mould and the sides are not split. All in all a good linen press with considerable age at a really competitive price, possibly the best deal anywhere for an 18thC one in tidy and most useable condition. We have been in business for 40 years and are now coming up to retirement. We are in consequence looking to reduce our stock, Delivery can be arranged with a specialist carrier for around £70 to most areas.
