Good Mahogany Longcase Clock John Hamilton Glasgow

This is a super mahogany cased 18th century Longcase antique clock in excellent condition by John Hamilton of Glasgow dating from around 1785. The clock has a decorative brass dial with seconds dial and calendar ring. The chapter ring has a wavy Dutch minute band or ‘Dutch gable’, a style popular in the North during the period. The upper cast brass spandrel depict beautiful stylised dolphin around the central cartouche which has the makers name and city engraved onto a silver roundel. The central dial is also beautifully engraved with stylised scrolls and cherubs holding flowers aloft. The 8 day movement has been recently serviced and overhauled by our horologist and the clock runs beautifully, keeping good time and striking the hour every hour on a bell.
The clock comes with a winding key and has a working lock and key to the door also. The mahogany case is in excellent condition throughout with a lovely colour and patina. It has spiral reeded columns flanking the door with matching brass capped columns to the hood which has a swan neck pediment with its original brass finial and roundels. Original weights and decorative hand painted pendulum.
A very handsome good quality clock in lovely condition. (Previously retailed by Second Time Around Clock dealer From Lincoln). It stands 210 cms high.
UK delivery can be arranged with our experienced local courier and costs £80 plus vat
