Good Welsh oak eighteenth century livery cupboard

This is a mid eighteenth Century solid oak Livery cupboard (wardrobe.) It came from North Wales. Welsh antique furniture of this date is better quality than anything made in the UK at this time. The cupboard has very attractive recessed panels, two to the large doors above and four in to the panels below. The wonderful ogee shape to the top of these recesses is a design associated to Denbighshire from where I acquired it. The cupboard has a simple cornice above and recessed panels to the side. In to the base are two drawers.
The cupboard inside, has a panelled back and and a long drop. It has its original pegs for hanging clothes from and it has had a later full length hanging rail to make it more useable. It will hold a lot of clothes!
I love period pieces like this. Old oak polishes beautifully and a piece like this shouldn't be hidden away in a bedroom. If you have a space for it in a hall or principal room, it will look beautiful.
This is a particularly good period livery cupboard. It is all original. It is particularly showy with all those recessed panels. The condition is good antique. Age shrinkages and minor warps as you would expect in something so old but everything is solid and it is ready for use.
The cupboard splits in half for ease of movement.
The Livery cupboard is 78 inches high and 54 inches wide and 21.5 inches deep. The cupboard splits for moving.
