Gupta Style Indian Carved Wooden Rectangular Panel

The Indian carved wooden panel, in Gupta style, of rectangular form, depicting gods and attendants, in high relief, showing traces of paint, with themes of nature, music, prayer and religion carved within six compartments, a temple atop of the panel.
Condition is very good, the wood has no softness or signs of infestation, the colour is appealing and there has been no over cleaning.
The Gupta Period (4th-7th c AD) is often described as the golden age of art and architecture in India and is thus often reproduced. During this period, sculptures and art work of deities, their consorts, celestial beings, couples, directional deities, composite animals and decorative motifs, all of which we see here, formed the mass of images that adorned the walls of the temples and their interiors. The genius of any Indian sculptor lay in his visualisation of the deities' ideal proportions, youthful bodies and benign expressions.
This panel boats a huge amount of work by a skilled craftsman and thus proves a very pretty piece of decorative carving.
