H & R Daniel Porcelain Tea Cup & Saucer 4111

A very fine tea cup and saucer by Henry & Richard Daniel in the second gadroon shape and decorated in a fabulous pattern number 4111. Alternating shaped reserves in underglaze mazarine blue and lemon yellow enamel ground with gilt hatched decoration, dots, scrolls, and stylised foliage. Below each blue section is a finely painted vignette of various buildings in country landscapes. Further gilt decoration around the outside of the cup, handle, and gadrooned rims. Both pieces marked with the pattern number 4111.
Reference: A Compendium Of British Cups, Berthoud, plate 733.
The cup measures 6cm (2 3/8") to the handle and 9.8cm (3 7/8") rim to rim. The saucer measures 14.5cm (5 3/8") wide and 2cm (3/4") high.
In very good condition: the cup has a firing hairline from the foot up to the handle and slightly under the base. No repairs or restoration and only minor handling wear, mainly just in the centre of the saucer. The cup has some minor firing crazing which is usual for this shape and manufacturer. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
