Handsome Large Art Deco Cocktail Shaker c.1920


An impressive sized Art Deco cocktail shaker dating to around 1920 and made from EPNS, (Electro-Plated Nickel Silver). The shaker is beautifully decorated with three fabulous bands of engine turning.
The underside is fully marked, BIRMINGHAM HANDICRAFTS LTD. a mark of Birmingham Guild of Handicrafts. Formed in 1895 by Arthur Dixon and about 20 craftsman with the aim to reinstate handcraftmanship in Birmingham. The Guild was closely associated with the city's trade schools. The Guild amalgamated in 1910 with E & R. Gittings and merged in 1919 c. with Hart, Son, Peard & Co.
Excellent condition, standing 9 3/4" tall and a max. 4 1/4" in diameter.
