Henry Charles Fox Oil Hunting Scene 1890


This painting would make a great Christmas present for anyone interested in hunting or country pursuits.
The painting is a large oil on canvas by the artist HENRY CHARLES FOX R.B.A. 1860-1929 and depicts a huntsman, clad in traditional hunting pink, with his hounds at his heels,about to enter a wood.
Henry Charles Fox was a landscape painter in both oils and watercolours. He exhibited 21 paintings at the Royal Academy from 1880-1913 and also at Suffolk Street, the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, the Royal Oil Painters Institute and many other provincial exhibitions. He was elected a full Member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1889, the year before he executed this work and exhibited a total of 113 paintings there.
One of his oils is in the National Collection and is located at the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum. It is entitled 'The Afternoon Sun, Twickenham, from the Ferry.'
He lived variously in London, Kingston upon Thames, Billingshurst, before dying in Horsham in April 1929.
