'History Of The Romans Under The Empire' by Charles Merivale B.D., published London 1865.

The work is complete in eight volumes, each fully bound in tan claf leather with red and green leather title/volume panels to the spine with gilt decoration and five raised bands. Shelf wear evident to all volumes. The front board of Volume III is detached.

Marbled page edges. Marbled endpapers. Bookplate of 'Henry William Schneider' to the front paste down (Henry William Schneider [12 May 1817 – 11 November 1887] was a British industrialist, and politician, who played a leading role in the development of the new town of Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria). All pages remain in a very good condition.
