History of the World by Sir Walter Raleigh, third edition. Title page dated 1614. Colophon dated 1621 printed by 'William Jaggard for Walter Burr and are to be sold in his shop in Paules church yard at the signe of the crane'. All eight maps are present.

Raleigh wrote this book during his imprisonment (1603-1616), he was tried in 1603 for treason and imprisoned in the Tower. The book was published in 1614 but King James felt that it criticised the Stuart Dynasty so he ordered all copies to be confiscated and all sales were banned. There have been various editions since as it remained popular amongst the people.
