Hollingue Striking & Repeating Carriage Clock

An early French brass cased striking and repeating carriage antique clock by Hollingue. A brass case with an enamel dial. Roman numerals and 'moon' blued steel hands. The H.L. mark on the mechanism front plate is the makers Holingue frères who were suppliers of both movements and antique clocks to many fine horologists including Drocourt, Paul Garnier, Moise Bollviller and Athanase Bourdin. Holingue workshops were purchased by Drocourt in 1875 with the movements prior to this date marked H.L. This number 5840 is an early example circa 1870.
