This is a huge, outstanding quality example which would be very expensive to paint today and not often painted on such a huge scale.
This immaculately presented work portrays a foggy morning with distant views along the tranquil
Grand Canal in Venice.
The attention to detail is phenomenal, and it is one of those paintings that appear to show something new each time it is viewed.
In particular the artist has perfectly captured the realistic glistening ripples in the calm early morning waters.
Finished with a generous impasto of oils providing more depth and realism.
