Huge Victorian Winsor and Newton Watercolour Box


A really splendid and large (15" x 9 3/4" x 5") mahogany Artist's paint box by the famous Winsor and Newton.
Lovely to find one of these more unusual "Illuminating Colours and Materials" box with the original glass pots of paint (used). The ceramic palette to the front is signed on the underside "Winsor and Newton, London". There is a storage compartment underneath with more pots of paint and other supplies. Either side are the original cut crystal water bowls (one cracked).
The brass pin is removed allowing the drawer to be opened by the flush campaign style brass handle revealing a wonderful drawer full of goodies. There is a tower of mixing pots, tubes of paint and other supplies.
The interior of the lid retains it's wonderful colourful label, fully intact. The box is made from solid Mahogany and in superb condition with wear commensurate with age. The box dates to the Victorian era, around 1870.
