Hukin and Heath Biscuit Box - 1884 With History

This biscuit box is the best of the best, made by the highly collectable Hukin and Heath, well known for its production in the 1870's and 1880's of silver and electroplated wares under the guidance of Dr. Christopher Dresser.
The box was retailed by Haseldine, 36 New Bond Street, London. Situated in the heart of London’s luxury goods market, Haseldine retailed exclusive jewelry, silverware and watches, signed on the underside of the lid.
The box is signed on the back by Hukin and Heath together with the English design registration number for the year 1874.
Made from hand carved Oak in a bark effect with a natural horn handle. The mounts are silver plated. Inside the box I have included the providence of the piece, this being a prize in 1875 for a Hunt, Algernon Rushout North Cotswold Hounds.
A spectacular and finely engineered piece of history by one of the most sought-after English silversmiths.
Excellent condition, measuring 9" across x 7 1/2" deep including handle x 5 1/4" tall.
