A fabulous and very unusual cigar box or humidor, English made around 1900.

The box is silver plated with a wonderful bark design with the glazed lid having a handsome English hunt print with hand painted detail.

Unusually this example comes with a working lock and key. The interior of the box is fully lined in Cedar wood which was the way the cigars were kept fresh a humidor as such is a modern invention. The box was clearly made for a French retailer, the cedar lining signed by the Paris retailer "E. Lenoir, 49, Boulevard des Capucines, Paris" one of the four 'grands boulevards' of Paris, France, a chain of roads running east-west that includes the boulevard de la Madeleine, the boulevard des Capucines, the boulevard des Italiens and the boulevard Montmartre.

Beautiful condition measuring 9 1/4" x 6 7/8" x 3 1/4".
