Inlaid Month Vienna Regulator Wall Clock biedermeier regulator Vienna %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
It is a pleasure to offer this exceptional and very rare Vienna wall antique clock in lovely original condition and manufactured circa 1860.
This particular clock has been part of my private collection for approximately 18 years having been sourced from a collector in Europe.
I have collected this particular style of Vienna regulator for 30 years and this example is perhaps the best of its type I have seen.
Inlaid antique clocks such as this are very rare indeed but what makes this clock exceptional is that much of the fine inlay is also engraved which was a very costly and skilled process.
Austrian clocks such as this are entirely hand made and finished by time served master clockmaker's and should not be confused with the much cheaper mass produced German antique clocks.
Austrian clocks were only made for the most discerning customers (who could afford them) and took many months to complete individually.
Subsequently they are rare items and I have spent almost 30 years driving all over Europe to source these antique clocks, particularly the finer examples with originality being a paramount requirement.
Unfortunately there are too many people selling modern reproductions to customers.
I offer a full money back guarantee as to the authenticity of my Vienna clocks.I also welcome any expert appraisal whatsoever.
Obviously, any potential clients are very welcome to view the clock prior to purchase (or pay on delivery)to ensure that they are satisfied with their purchase.
As you can see from the photographs this is a very impressive clock which is 68 inches in length and is in excellent condition and ready to go straight onto the wall. I have photographed it next to a standard size clock of month duration for size comparison
.The superb weight driven triple plated movement is of 30 day duration and has dead beat escapement. It has Grande Sonnierre striking which strike each of the four quarters on on gong after which the current hour is struck on a separate gong.and there is facility for pull repeat by a cord .It is of the finest quality and fitted to the case by a wooden seat board. The top part of the movement has a seperate plate to reduce friction which allows the clock to reliably run for 30 days and strike 10,000 times on one winding !
The spoked pulleys are very unusual being held by tiny taper pins rather than screws..
The case is veneered in the finest Rosewood which is of excellent colour and is inlaid with with brass, pewter and bone. Please study the images of the case to see the quality of the inlay. Unusually is has carved decoration to the top and bottom of the canted corners .The door is secured by lock and key. The carved cresting is a hand made replacement.
The original finish is present and the patina is perfect.Everything about this clock is a little better than normally seen..
Such clocks were the most expensive made at the time and this particular example is the very best of them all.
The overall condition is outstanding being original and well looked after.
There is ,of course, the odd age related mark and minor repair as you would expect on any item of this age but the condition is a good as anyone could possibly expect.
The 8 inch one piece dial is in perfect condition It has a lovely bezel and the lace like steel hands are original. The clock functions perfectly .
The sides of the case are glazed .
Hopefully the images will show show interested parties all they need to see.
.This clock is much nicer in the flesh and looks very impressive on the wall.Prospective buyers are encouraged to view this clock if at at possible
It is 68 inches in length (from the very bottom finial to the top of the pediment) .The widest part is 20 1/2 inches wide. The maximum depth is 9 1/2 inches.
If the buy it now price is paid in full then I will deliver and set up the clock free of charge to the English mainland,Wales and the Scottish lowlands.I will provide a 12 months guarantee under these circumstances.
If a lesser offer is accepted it will be considered a trade sale with the clock sold as described and shipping the responsibility of the buyer.
It is a large clock so it will have to be professionally crated and shipped.
